Role Summary

The Deputy Manager Flight Operations role is an exciting opportunity to join CHC HS, who provide world class energy support and Search and Rescue services on behalf of Norwegian Ministry of Justice and a number of high profile private companies. In this role we are looking for an individual who can demonstrate leadership qualities that contribute towards a collaborative and agile team.

 

The role reports to the Manager Flight Operations CHC HS and is responsible for supporting the overall management of all Flight Operational activities to meet CHC, customer and regulator requirements maintaining a safe operational environment.

 

The role will also collaborate with CHC Flight Standard team globally and work to adopt best practice and share development ideas and feedback to enhance global standardisation.

 

The Deputy Manager, Flight Operations together with the Manager Flight Operations have the responsibility of ensuring that CHC remains in compliance with the applicable requirements whilst maximizing the capabilities of the Flight Operations team. The role also acts as the nominated deputy Post Holder for flight operations in the CHC HS AOC.

 

The role is based in Sola and requires the legal ability to work in Norway and be acceptable to NCAA as a nominated deputy person for flight operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the MFO to provide business leadership and overall management of CHC HS flight operations
  • Lead by example and drive results through a disciplined and focussed approach to flight operations
  • Provide assistance to the MFO in liaison with the Regulator to ensure CHC compliance with all appropriate rules and regulations
  • Active member CHC Flight Standards team on policy development and feedback, in order to drive continued harmonisation and development of CHC Standards
  • Actively contribute to department manpower planning and implementation to deliver customer contract requirements.
  • Retain a close customer focus on all flight operations and training matters and support Sales/Commercial team as required with proposals including tender preparation
  • Drive excellence through performance management assessment of pilots and other assigned staff  
  • Work in collaboration with Safety and Quality team with Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and flight compliance programs and reviews.
  • Internal and overseas travel overseas may be required.
  • May be assigned other duties

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Required Qualifications (Education, Qualifications, Certifications)

Essential

  • Whilst this is a non flying role it is essential to demonstrate previous experience in offshore helicopter service provision preferably on either the AS332 or S92.
  • Excellent knowledge of CHC policies and procedures as well as local aviation legislation and standards
  • Proven leadership experience and results at middle management level in flight operations or flight training
  • Meet the requirements for NCAA deputy nominated persons Flight Operations

Desirable

  • Experience in commercial SAR is an advantage.
  • Current or previous experience as an instructor or examiner on either AS332 or S92 is an advantage
